UPDATE: Ukraine blocks assets of Russia’s Rossiya Segodnya for 3 years

(Adds details in fourth paragraph)

MOSCOW, May 24 (PRIME) -- The Ukrainian government has included Russian state-owned news agency Rossiya Segodnya in its sanction list, blocking access to assets and websites affiliated with the agency in the country for three years, according to a document published on the website of Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko on Thursday.

The sanctions were also imposed on local news agency RIA Novosti Ukraine, Chief Editor of which Kirill Vyshynsky was earlier detained by local law enforcement authorities on suspicion of treason.

The new blacklist also includes Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska. The government has blocked his rights to exploit his property, to withdraw money from Ukraine, and to enter the country for three years.

Kiev also imposed the three-year restrictive measures on the Moscow Exchange, blocking assets of the bourse, limiting trade operations, preventing withdrawal of money from Ukraine, and suspending fulfillment of financial liabilities.

In total, the new blacklist contains 1,748 individuals.

Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the CIS committee of the Russian parliament’s lower house State Duma, called for suspension of economic cooperation with Ukraine in response to the sanctions against Rossiya Segodnya and RIA Novosti Ukraine.
